The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced maximum retail pump prices of petroleum products effective June 15.

The maximum allowed price of Super Petrol decreases by Sh0.11 per litre while diesel increases by Sh0.10 per litre and kerosene increases by Sh0.32 per litre.

In a statement, the ERC says the purpose of the fuel pricing regulation is to cap the pump prices of the products, which are already in the country, such that the importation and other prudently incurred costs are recovered while ensuring fair prices to the consumers.

The ERC says the oil marketing companies are encouraged to compete below the maximum prices.

The prices are effective June 15 to July 14, 2014.
