A construction firm contracted to supply materials for the re-carpeting Jogoo road wants government compelled to pay for the project.

Crescent Construction Company says an Australian Company, Richfields International, which loaned it the materials for the work has threatened to have it closed down for failing to pay.

The construction company alleged that the government’s disbursement of the funds has been affected by the transition to devolved systems, and that a significant amount of money is held up by the statutory manager.

“Delay in payments by the plaintiff is occasioned by the government’s failure to pay over Sh154 million owed to us by the defunct Ministry of Local Government,” Mr Mohamed Ashraf, the Director of the Crescent Company, said.
