French phone firm eyes Kenyan market

French phone maker Wiko has announced plans to enter the Kenyan market as it seeks to establish a footing in Africa.

The company will tomorrow unveil its first smartphone in the country ahead of other launches in Nigeria later this year. Established in 2011, Wiko is now France’s second largest selling smartphone.

“Wiko delivers style and quality at the best price. We are excited about entering new markets like Kenya, Nigeria, Poland, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and are confident of repeating our success story in these markets,” said International business development director David Garcia.

Mr Garcia said technology lovers in Kenya now had a chance to discover their innovative products, which are popular in Europe.
