KQ appoints new CEO from within

Kenya Airways has announced appointment of Mbuvi Ngunze as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive with effect from December 1, 2014.

Mr Ngunze is the current chief operating officer at the national carrier.

He will take over from the airline's long serving chief executive Titus Naikuni, who will retire on November 2014 after 11 years at the helm.

The airline's board of director had engaged Spencer Stuart limited, an international executive search firm, to assist it scout for a Mr Naikuni's successor.

"On behalf of the Board of Directors of Kenya Airways,I also wish to take this opportunity to call for your full support for Mbuvi Ngunze as he takes over the leadership of the Company's day to day affairs, and to wish Dr. Naikuni and his family Godspeed as he prepares to go into his retirement," board chairman Evanson Mwaniki said in a statement.

Following Mr Ngunze's appointment, the board has started to search for a new Chief Operating Officer.
