Mucheru revokes Matiang'i board appointments, names new Posta directors

Information Cabinet Secretary (CS), Joe Mucheru has appointed new board members at the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) and revoked contracts of five individuals that had been appointed by former CS Fred Matiang’i.

Mr Mucheru on Monday told the Business Daily that the new appointments were driven by the need to find individuals with skills that can transform the State-owned organisation.

The new appointees include Pauline Muthangani, Munyua Waiyaki, Simon Kiuta, Ibrahim Mohammed Salad and Mary Maingi.

Ms Muthangani makes a return to the board after having served for two years following her appointment by former Minister Samuel Poghisio in 2012, before Mr Matiang’i revoked it.

The appointments are effective from May 31st and run for a period of three years.

The former PCK board members whose contract were revoked include Omar Said Soba, Celestine Okuta, Susanne Manyasi, Mary Basweti and Margaret Mucheru-Karuri.

“We want board members with the right skills that can help move the institution into the next level. Last week we launched a great innovation at the PCK and this is the direction we are taking,” Mr Mucheru said in a telephone interview.
