Those rooting for the new measure say use of GDP accounting gave a false impression of economic performance, as they measured the “goods” being produced, but not the “bads”.

Perhaps replacing one faulty number with the next makes things better, or it could reveal how truly messed up our social systems and economy really are in comparison with the rest of the world.
