An online directory for search of information on education has been launched in the country.

It offers comprehensive information on institutions of higher learning whether local, international, government or privately owned.

The web version has incorporated four directories including one with information on the finance sector and health care.

Another site that will feature locally made products, is still under construction.

Mr Mugo Kibati, director general of Vision 2030 said there's need to access education and information via the website.

Soft skills

“Development of soft skills should be emphasised more in the education system and the training of human resources pool as the sector grooms the next generation of Kenyans who will live the vision,” he said during the launch.

The first Kenya education directory, a 60 page book, was published in 1990 while the web version that rolled out on Thursday includes a one-time click to access information on kindergartens, primary and high schools.

The yet-to-be produced manufacturing page will incorporate all firms and institutions in the sector including their products and locations.
