Reprieve as fuel cost goes down by Sh5

Fuel prices went down by as high as Sh5 as the regulator announced this month’s pump prices, offering relief to consumers and a boost to the falling cost of living.

In its monthly fuel adjustment review, the Energy Regulatory Commission reduced the price citing reduction in global crude oil prices and the strengthening of the shilling against the dollar.

The price of diesel has now been reduced by Sh5.38 per litre, super petrol by Sh4.41 while kerosene has gone down by Sh4.37.

Maximum price

The price of diesel has now been reduced to Sh97.84, super petrol to Sh113.24 while that of Kerosene has been reduced to Sh105.89 in Nairobi.

“Taking into account the actual costs of imported products and products refined locally, the overall result for Nairobi is that the maximum allowed price of Diesel decreases by Sh5.38 per litre, Super Petrol decreases by Sh4.41 per litre while that of Kerosene decreases by Sh4.37 per litre,” the energy regulator said in a statement on Tuesday.
