Farmers will not be deducted Sh5 to go towards construction of two satellite factories, Kapkoros Tea Factory Company Limited has said, in an effort to dispel rumours doing the rounds.

The factory unit manager, Mr Isaiah Kiget, said that during the company’s last annual general meeting at Tirgaga tea factory, more than 500 committee members representing the 105 tea buying centres in the region had proposed that the two satellites factories, Sh800 million Chesoen and Kipyosit, be set up to decongest the Kapkoros and Tirgaga factories.

Some of the members also proposed that between Sh2 to Sh5 be deducted from each of the 24,000 growers to go towards construction of the facilities. None of the proposals were adopted at the time.

The meeting resolved that committee members seek out farmers views on how much they would be comfortable.

Speaking to press at the firms premises on Sunday, Mr Kiget said it was wrong for some of the committee members to spread falsehoods that the firm had resolved to deduct Sh5 from each growers.

“Even if they were to be build, the company will not overload farmers by constructing the two facilities at the same time. One has to be build first before the other,” he said.
