Eldoret to host fifth ‘Seeds of Gold’ farmers clinic this Saturday

Seeds of Gold in partnership with Elgon Kenya Ltd yet again invite you to our fifth chapter of farming clinic, which will be held at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute in Eldoret today.

The event’s theme is “Building Farming Capacity of Farmers for Greater Yields” and it will focus on in-depth training on agribusiness and modern farming technologies, agricultural developments, information sharing and innovations that the farmer can invest in and boost agribusiness, curb hunger and food insecurity, and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.

“Innovative irrigation techniques, drought tolerant seeds and farming inputs and less dependence on rain-fed agriculture are all features that will be discussed and addressed by our numerous agricultural extension officers and experts who will be in attendance,” said Nelson Maina, Elgon Kenya’s Public Relations and Communication manager.

According to Mr Maina, Elgon Kenya Ltd has also come up with an online platform from which farmers can access information on different agricultural issues and have their concerns addressed by experts in real time, and more insight about the platform will be addressed and discussed during the clinic in Eldoret.

The event is sponsored by Elgon Kenya Ltd, Simba Corp, Egerton University and Nation Media group’s Seeds of Gold, all who will also be showcasing their products and services to farmers.

Farmers and agriculture enthusiasts are consequently asked to come with all their questions, which will be analysed and answered by experts from Elgon Kenya, Egerton University and Simba Corp among others.

The Seeds of Gold Farming Clinics have experienced exponential growth with increasing attendance each time, which shows how eager Kenyan’s are, to learn more about farming and agriculture.

Initiated and advanced by Elgon Kenya Limited and Seeds of Gold, the series of clinics have brought to the fore the desire for accurate information among smallholder farmers so that they are empowered.

“The previous farming clinic held in Meru had a huge attendance and the Eldoret edition is expected to be even bigger,” said Mr Maina, adding that the clinics are taking the country to the next level in farming and agribusiness, hence food and economic security.
