Minutes after the Supreme Court ruling on July 9 that upheld his election as Garissa governor, Mr Nathif Jama wasted no time in unveiling his development plans anew.

He said his administration will offer a people-driven platform where transparency and honesty will be order of the day.

“As a government by the people and for the people, I would like to categorically state that my administration will be in the forefront in order to achieve the dreams of every resident,” he said.

Governor Jama now has a mandate to continue fulfilling his 11-point plan that includes ensuring eating food security at the top of the five-year agenda for Garissa.

Other plans include enhancing livestock farming, education, infrastructure, water, sanitation and waste management and health care, as well as providing emergency response services and appropriate social services.

Mr Jama said he will unlock the county’s tourism potential in addition to developing entrepreneurship, trade and manufacturing and security.

He emphasised that Garissa has many unexploited resources and will ensure it utilises them to improve its economy.

The governor promised to make the northeastern county attractive to tourists.

He said his administration would encourage investment in game reserves and national parks.
