A 90 year old grandmother is being treated at a private hospital in Molo after being repeatedly raped on Wednesday night.

The old woman was attacked by an unknown assailant as she slept in her hut in Milima village.

The masked assailant gained access into her hut after digging a hole through the wall using a jembe.

The incident happened at around 2am during a heavy downpour.

The granny who is admitted at the St Joseph Private Hospital recalled the incident from her hospital bed, narrating her ordeal in the hands of the attacker who vanished into the darkness after accomplishing his mission, leaving her writhing in pain.

Her screams were drowned by the heavy downpour and no one could hear her and come to her rescue.

“It was around 2am and there was a heavy downpour which made my screams faint as my neighbours could not hear me,” she narrated amid sobs.

The attacker also stole Sh1,000 from the granny’s box before walking away.

Family members and relatives who visited the woman in hospital condemned the incident and called for a speedy investigation to bring justice to the victim.

“This is a sad incident and we hope police will do their job well and arrest the suspect soon for justice to prevail,” said one of the granny’s family members Mr Habakkuk Kinyanjui.

Local residents say there has been a rise in cases of old women’s huts being broken into and raped.

They have called for investigation and immediate arrest of the assailants who have been terrorising residents.

Kuresoi police boss David Wambua confirmed the incident and promised residents a thorough investigation on the matter.

He said his team will ensure the attacker is arrested and prosecuted.

“We are investigating the matter and soon we will bring the assailants to book,” said the police boss.
