Eurobond funds being used in a transparent manner, says Aden Duale

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has said that the Eurobond is above board and transparent contrary to claims made by Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Garissa Town on Sunday, Mr Aden Duale at the same time refuted allegations that the money is hidden in overseas accounts and it is being misused by the Jubilee administration.
He said the main objective of going for the Eurobond was to make sure the government doesn’t compete with the private sector in domestic borrowing adding that they have gone to various destinations to source for another Sh283 billion.
The Garissa Township MP said there is transparency and the Opposition leaders should ask Parliament to show them how funds have been used.
RESPECT PRESIDENT
Mr Duale, at the same time, told the Opposition leader to respect the President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy saying they were elected in democratic elections.
“Raila and President Uhuru had competed in an election where President Uhuru emerged the winner. He should give him respect,” he said amidst cheers from the crowed.
Mr Odinga had claimed that Jubilee is trading the Eurobond to steal public funds which have been hidden in foreign accounts.
Mr Odinga has, however, disputed these assertions and asked the government to come clean on the maintenance of foreign accounts in relation to the Eurobond funds.
The ODM leader had said private citizens were benefiting more from President Kenyatta’s frequent trips abroad when they accompany him as part of business entourage — and suggested that this was probably happening at the expense of national good.
