Fred Kapondi wins Mt Elgon Jubilee parliamentary ticket

Former Mt Elgon MP Fred Kapondi has clinched the Jubilee party ticket for the parliamentary seat beating other six contestants.
Kapondi garnered 12,051 votes while his closest rival businessman Harry Kimtai got 8, 899, Evans Chemwotei garnered 5,111, and Mokin Ptang’uny a former Bungoma County public administration executive got 2,442.
Others were Moss Ndiema with 944, James Namtalla - 902 and Michael Kawon who got 720 votes.
Kaondi applauded the voters for having faith in him and turning up in large numbers.
“I am a happy man, my past development record will be replicated in the next government,” said Mr Kapondi.
Kapondi will now face the incumbent Mr.John Serut vying as an independent and Peter Sirai of Kanu.
