The Chairman of Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) Micah Cheserem has warned county officials involved in corruption that their days are numbered.

Mr Cheserem said once investigative agencies finalise their work, all individuals who will be found guilty of the vice will be imprisoned.

“Let us give Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Auditor-General and courts time to do their work and those who will be found to have mismanaged county funds will be arrested and jailed,” he said.

Mr Cheserem urged locals ‘to make noise’ whenever they see county money meant for development being mismanaged.

He lauded Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for his efforts to improve and equip the hospital and other health facilities in the region.

He said the construction of a modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependence Unit (HDU) at the referral facility will impact positively on the delivery of health services.

“We would like to thank Oparanya for doing a commendable job and ensuring that money allocated for projects in the county has been well utilised,” he said

He went on: “We are really impressed with the work the county government has done after visiting the county general hospital.”

He noted that despite the hospital being congested and bodies placed on the floor at the mortuary, they are happy to see some development.

ROADS DEADLOCK

Mr Cheserem said negotiations are underway with the national government to ensure more money is allocated to roads.

“We want to ensure counties get money on time to initiate development projects,” he said.

He said negotiations were going on to address the tussle between county and national government over allocation of funds for roads.

County governments have complained of being allocated little funds for maintenance of roads.
