The lynching of a Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) pastor has been condemned by SDA church leaders .

Pastor Evans Orina Osugo was killed last Sunday at Kenlands estate on suspicion that he had stolen a motorbike.

Pastor Orina, who had served the church for 34 years, was flushed out of a house in which he had sought refuge and killed.

His request to say last prayers was rejected as the mob descended on him with knives before dousing his body in petrol and setting it on fire.

“It is very sad to learn that Pastor Osugo tried to plead for mercy as he confessed innocence... but his attackers went ahead to beat him to death,” Central Rift SDA conference president Reuben Korir said on Sunday during special prayers at the scene of the attack.

He called on the police to fast-track investigations into the attack and bring the killers to book.

Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama condemned the attack and urged witnesses to come forward and assist police with investigations.

“This incident is unfortunate and has no place in the society. It must be investigated thoroughly by the police,” he said.
