VILLAGE IN MOURNING

Tension gripped Thuon Gweno Village in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, as residents received the sad news of the doctor's death on Tuesday.

On the fateful day, his son – Dad Junior (DJ), as he is fondly referred to by family members – allegedly stabbed his father 18 times after he demanded to know why he had skipped his exams.

DJ was a student at the Kenya School of Flying at Wilson Airport in Nairobi.

Sources indicated that during a breakfast meeting on April 24, 2016, Dr Amolo, after failing to get a response from his son, walked away towards the backyard but was later followed by DJ, who grabbed him from behind.

The son then reportedly stabbed his father several times using a kitchen knife before attempting to turn it on his elder sister, who ran away and locked herself in a room.

He was later disarmed and handed over to officers from the Lang’ata Police Station.

“It is indeed a tragic affair but I [appeal to the] villagers to restrain themselves as we wait for the law to take its course,” said Ndhiwa OCPD Nixon Makokha after news of the death reached the village.
