EACC raids Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria's home

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on Thursday morning raided the home of Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria and carted away some documents.

The officers also raided the homes of some county executives and a consultant.

The detectives were still searching the governor's home at Koorali Estate, off the Gatanga-Thika road by 10am.

Journalists were not allowed into Mr Wa Iria's compound. The house is located in a coffee estate.

There was a confrontation between the governor’s aides and EACC detectives over the search.

The aides wanted the search to be conducted in the presence of journalists.

Mr Wa Iria’s supporters also arrived outside the home and demanded to be allowed into the compound.

Police however ordered them to move away from the the house.

The EACC detectives later conducted the search and took away some documents.
