Efforts on to rebuild Mpeketoni

Efforts to rebuild Mpeketoni town, which was ravaged in an attack last week, have begun.

Tuesday, the Nation Media Group and Devki Steel Mills Limited donated building materials worth Sh3.2 million to be used in rebuilding property torched by raiders in the attack that led to the deaths of at least 60 people.

NMG donated 1,500 bags of cement worth Sh1.2 million while Devki Steel Mills donated 2000 iron sheets worth Sh2 million.

Religious leaders were not also left behind, with a number of bishops from JCC Malindi donating 30 bundles of maize meal, several bales of clothes and other personal effects.

RED CROSS

The donations were handed over to Kenya Red Cross.

“We want to take good care of the affected. We want their children to continue going to school,” said Mr Narendra Raval, Devki Steel Mills Group Chairman,

NMG Chief Executive Officer Mr Linus Gitahi, while calling on other organisations to give assistance, stressed the importance of peace in the country.
