Extend new railway line in my county, pleads Mutua

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua wants the standard gauge railway extended to pass through more areas in his county.
He said the county was willing to finance the building of a station if that is what it took to extend the railway line.
He appealed to the Kenya Railways Corporation to extend the line to Chumvi, at the junction to Machakos on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, to ease transport for the people of Machakos.

The railway line will pass through Athi-River.
“We will put up the money to build our station. We just need the railway,” said Dr Mutua.
The governor was speaking during a symposium conducted by Kenya Railways for stakeholders in Machakos on Wednesday night.
Speaking at the function, Retired General Jeremiah Kianga, the chairman of Kenya Railways, promised to hold talks with the governor and look into his demands.
