A fire burnt down the Makueni County Assembly offices on Monday morning.
The blaze, which started at around 3am, destroyed the Speaker’s office, the clerk’s office and the assembly chambers.
The cause of the inferno could not be immediately established, according to a message from the clerk’s office to the county assembly members.
“This is to inform you that there was a fire last night at the Assembly that completely burnt down the Chamber, the Speaker’s Office, the Clerk’s Office and all the offices in the upper wing.
“The fire has now been contained. Investigations are ongoing and information on the cause will be communicated,” read the message.
