Five guns stolen from slain policemen in Kapedo surrendered

Five guns stolen from 21 policemen killed in Tiaty, Baringo County, have been surrendered.

Area commissioner Mr Daniel Kurui said locals surrendered the firearms through elders and chiefs.

Mr Kirui said they expected locals to hand over more guns.

The officers were killed in an ambush that happened in the area between Kapedo and Lokori in Turkana County, where they had gone to recover a General Service Unit vehicle that had been torched during a previous operation.

President Uhuru Kenyatta toured the area and ordered locals to name the attackers or face a massive security operation.

More than 10 lorries carrying Kenya Defence Forces soldiers were seen heading to the region on Monday, a day after President Kenyatta visited the region and issued an ultimatum.
