Tharaka-Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa has denied claims that he is sabotaging establishment of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus in the county.
Chuka MP Muthomi Njuki has accused Mr Ragwa of declining to approve the allocation 15 acres of land at Chuka County Referral Hospital towards construction of the campus.
But speaking to Nation on phone, Mr Ragwa said he has never received any request for the land.
Mr Ragwa said he is not a member of the hospital board of management and asked the MP to stop dragging his name into the matter for political gain.
“This is a public land and the issue of where the college will be situated is at the hands of the hospital and college management boards. Politicians have no stake in it,” said Mr Ragwa.
He however said hospital land will not be subdivided since the college is part of the facility.
Mr Ragwa maintained that no separate title deed will be given for the parcel of land meant for a KMTC campus.
But Mr Njuki said failure to authorize subdivision of the land was hindering its construction.
He said the national government is set to release Sh20 million and Sh10 million from his constituency kitty for construction of classes and hostels.
The KMTC campus is housed by the Chuka University.
