A family and friends in Eldoret are asking for the public’s help in locating 28 year old John Waruinge Mbugua (Johny) who disappeared mysteriously from his office at Kogo Plaza in March.

According to his father Sammy Mbugua, he said that on the time of his son’s disappearance, March 28, 2015, Johny received a call from a known person at around 5 pm that they were supposed to go to someplace.

“I remember clearly Johny received a call from a friend that they were supposed to go somewhere. He hurriedly went out and got into a salon car and that was the last time we heard of him,” stated Mr Mbugua.

He said that everything had been done including going to the mortuary and reporting to the police as they try to find the young businessman.

“We have tried to report to the police to help us but we are told we wait until six months. We even requested for a license to hold a peaceful demonstration to push the authority but we were denied. We have gone to every mortuary but still in vain,” explained Mbugua.

Eldoret West police boss Smollets Munyianzi has, however, refuted the claims saying they are meant to mislead Kenyans.

"They should ask us what we have done so far. Actually we have done a lot in the investigation and even a file has been opened and forwarded to Nairobi," said Munyianzi.

He called on anyone with important information to contact the nearest police station.

However, Mr Mbugua suggested that his son might have been involved in a car deal which might have gone sour and led to his disappearance.

Peter Chomba, the Huruma Ward representative said that it was not the first time for such an incident to happen.

“This is not the first time that someone has gone missing in my Ward. We are urging the Deputy President William Ruto to intervene on this matter and also all the security personnel to pull up their socks,” Chomba said.

Chomba stated that it was a shame for the county to deny people seeking for permit to hold peaceful demonstrations.

He promised a reward of Sh50, 000 to anyone with information that will lead to the whereabouts of Johny urging them to report to the family or to the police.
