Three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers were injured on Wednesday evening after a military truck they were travelling in rolled in Nanyuki.

The truck is said to have been transporting foodstuff from Nairobi to Nanyuki when it hit a bump at Ichungwa, a few metres from Nanyuki town and the driver lost its control rolling several times.

The truck also hit a personal saloon car but the car’s occupants escaped unhurt. It is however unclear what caused the truck to overturn.

The injured soldiers were rushed to the military hospital where they were treated for slight injuries.

Tragedy almost struck again after the truck rolled away as it was being towed and crushed into a shop.

Bystanders were left scampering for safety as the military carrier damaged a section of the shop.

Soldiers who responded swiftly to aid their colleagues were vigilant keeping the curious crowd as far away from the scene as possible.

Traffic flow was disrupted for a few hours as motorists had to be diverted.

Laikipia County police commander Angelus Karuru confirmed the incident saying normalcy was restored.
