Speaking in Gatundu on Thursday, Mr Kabogo said he is the "leading supporter of the Deputy President" and explained that he was misunderstood when he called on voters from the region to think clearly about the 2022 presidential elections.

"As a region, we must know what our stake shall be when Ruto takes over from Uhuru (President Kenyatta). We must also ensure that the country's leadership does not get lost in the Rift Valley region," he said.

He said that leaders criticizing his statement should realise that what President Kenyatta and Mr Ruto have is a “marriage that must be protected from separation without hypocrisy”.

"Hypocrisy is bad, I am glad God gave me wisdom," said Kabogo.
