What you need to know:

  • On Monday, residents stormed the county headquarters to protest against insecurity after the body of six-year-old Faith Aunty was found in a trench.
  • Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss Charles Mwaizinga declined to comment on reports that a suspect was being questioned over the murder of a girl whose body was found last weekend.

Detectives have not ruled out the likelihood of a serial killer being behind the murder of the three girls in the past six months.

The police had established a pattern that could be useful in unravelling the deaths, according to Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss Charles Mwaizinga.

“We are currently looking into all options in our investigation, to be able to establish those behind the killings,” said Mr Mwaizinga.

He said a team of DCI officers was handling the inquiry with an open mind and were working closely with the public volunteering information that could lead to arrests.

He declined to comment on reports that a suspect was being questioned over the murder of a girl whose body was found last weekend. She is the latest victim.

FOUND IN A TRENCH

On Monday, residents stormed the county headquarters to protest against insecurity after the body of six-year-old Faith Aunty was found in a trench.

The girl had been seen playing with other children before she went missing on Sunday.

Her father, Mr Evans Barabara, said a shabbily dressed man had approached the children and lured Faith to accompany him.

The victim’s body had marks around the neck, according to the police.
