Kakamega women to engage Oparanya at forum

Women in Kakamega County will have a chance to participate in key decision making following the Governor’s Gender Round Table (GGRT) meeting to be held in the County on Friday.

The Council of Governors holds this forums to bring together women, persons with disability and youth to engage County Governments in their bid to advance gender equality principle and women’s empowerment.

The Kakamega edition that will be attended the governor Wycliffe Oparanya and the Kakamega and Bomet Counties First Ladies will be an institutional mechanism for enhancing public participation of women, youth and persons with disabilities in order for these special groups to engage County Governments on specific needs and priorities.

“The forum is geared towards tracking the gains of women, youth and persons with disability in the process of planning, budgeting, implementation of projects and tracking within the counties,” said a statement from the CoG.

The round table will also ensure that they create a platform where County based women groups at all levels of the County, can highlight issues of concern to women in order to enhance their participation in the development agenda of the county.

The meeting will also be for the Governor to affirm his commitment in ensuring gender equality is engrained in county governance and practice in all the 47 devolved units.

“Governors and county citizens especially women, youth and persons with disability in the county showcase success stories of devolution and the positive impact to their,” read the statement.
