Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Senator Boni Khalwale have agreed to end their long-standing feud.

The two announced their reconciliation on Wednesday following a two-day bonding session at a hotel in Eldoret Town.

They said the supremacy battles had harmed projects being carried out in the county.

“We have resolved to set aside our differences because it has (undermined) unity and development," said Senator Khalwale.

He said he would engage the governor in a constructive manner on matters affecting the development and unity of the county.

The reconciliation ceremony was witnessed by MPs John Naika (Mumias West), Ayub Savula (Lugari), Enock Kibunguchy (Likuyani), Malulu Injendi (Malava) and Ben Washiali (Mumias East).

Others present were Andrew Toboso (Butere), Silverse Anami (Shinyalu), County Women Rep Rachael Meso and a host of elected members of the county.

Governor Oparanya said there was no way the county would move forward without elected leaders speaking in one voice.

He said he would work with the senator in the quest for a referendum to compel the national government to increase allocations to counties from the current 15 per cent to 45 per cent.
