Kandara Kanu candidate charged with swindling uncle

The Kanu parliamentary candidate for Kandara Constituency in Murang’a has been charged with swindling his uncle close to Sh8 million through a dubious land deal.

Mr Samuel Kamau Ng’ang’a, who was in the Jubilee Party before joining Kanu, was arraigned before Kiambu Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo where he denied obtaining the money after pretending that he was in a position to sell land.

A subdued Kamau denied that on diverse dates between June 2013 and November 2015 in Ruiru, with intent to defraud, he obtained Sh7.85 million from Simon Njoroge by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him a piece of land in Ruiru.

The accused, who is eyeing the seat currently held by Ms Alice Wahome, was also charged with three counts of forgery after he allegedly faked a land tittle deed purporting to be genuine.

He denied the charges and was freed on a Sh3 million bond with surety.

He was given the alternative of paying Sh2 million cash bail, pending the hearing and determination of the case which starts on July 3.
