A man has been sentenced to hang for killing a woman in Kiambu.

Martin Njoroge Mwangi admitted that he stabbed Regina Njoki to death on June 27, 2013 in Kahuho Village in Ndumberi, Kiambu County.

Mwangi is alleged to have killed two other women.

Justice Wycliffe Wakiaga heard that the accused took refuge at the Kangoya police post after the murder and was found with a list of women he intended to kill.

“According to the police the accused had stabbed another girl in the head and stomach who later died in hospital and before then he had attacked another whom he said had turned down his advances,” Justice Wakiaga said.

“He was found in possession of a list of women he wanted to kill, including his own mother. The deceased in this matter was the third woman to be attacked in such a manner in Ndumberi. It appears the accused had something against the women he stalked and stabbed to death,” the judge said.

Ms Njoki was on her way from Ndumberi when she was accosted by the accused.

He stabbed her in the neck. She died at Kiambu District Hospital.

Eyewitnesses who saw the accused stab Ms Njoki raised the alarm and a mob pursued him. He ran to the police station.

The judge said he agreed with the prosecution’s submission that Mwangi is “a danger to society, especially women and ought to be kept away.”
