Preacher James Ng’ang’a charged in Limuru court over killer crash

Televangelist James Ng’ang’a will be remanded at the Gigiri Police Station until Friday, when his application to be released on bond will be heard.
The ruling was made Thursday morning when he appeared in a Limuru court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The accused appeared before Limuru Senior Resident Magistrate Timothy ole Tanchu.
The preacher, however, denied the charge of causing the death of Ms Mercy Njeri on July 26 in Manguo in Limuru, Kiambu County.
He also denied charges of attempting to defeat justice and giving false information to government officers.
Mr Ng’ang’a was arrested by Flying Squad officers in Nairobi on Wednesday.
Also charged alongside the preacher were Limuru Traffic Commander Patrick Baya and Inspector Christopher Nzilu.
The two were charged with neglecting their duties by failing to investigate the case and also conspiring to defeat justice.
Mr Nzillu was also charged with giving false information at the Tigoni Police Station.
Mr Simon Kuria, the man accused of covering up for the embattled pastor in the matter, was also charged with conspiring to defeat justice and giving false information.
