Leadership wrangles in Kiambu County deepened on Monday as Senator Kimani Wamatangi renewed calls to impeach Governor William Kabogo.

Mr Wamatangi told the governor to sort out his differences with other leaders in the county failure to which he will seek all constitutional means of impeaching him.

The senator wants Mr Kabogo, the MPs and members of the county assembly to sort our their differences and focus on development.

“We will not watch the leadership continue engaging in unnecessary fights at the expense of development,” Mr Wamatangi said.

However, Mr Kabogo said he is not scared by threats to impeach him.

Instead, the governor accused MPs using my name to divert attention from their failures.

COLLECT SIGNATURES

“The MPs said they will collect signatures to impeach me, I am not afraid of that,” Mr Kabogo said.

“They will be collecting the signatures from the same people I am serving and who have seen the work I have done for them as their governor,” he added. “If they want to collect signatures, let them go ahead, after all it is their constitutional right.”

However, Mr Wamatangi accused Mr Kabogo of refusing to make peace with other leaders ‘and was affecting development’.

“The governor must shape up or ship out. As the senator, I have put them on notice. He must put things in order or we will remove him,” Mr Wamatangi said.

“The two years we have given him were enough to mend fences but he has shown no interest. I am afraid any more minute will be too costly to the county,” Mr Wamatangi said.

DISSOLVE

The senator however differed with a section of leaders, including the President’s advisor on agriculture James Nyoro and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa who said the entire county government should be dissolved.

“The entire county administration cannot be pinned on one man’s failure. It is the individual who should be done away with,” said.

“Our people can no longer be subjected to unpredictable and chaotic leadership. We must have a vision and a plan on how to improve lives of people,” he said.

Kiambu was among counties the senate said should be denied more funds after the governor failed to honour its summons to account for earlier allocations.

The county has not know peace since the 2013 elections as leaders have engaged in endless fights.
