Eight others were injured in the early morning incident.
One of them sustained serious burns and was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital while the other seven were admitted to Tigoni Hospital in Limuru.
Tigoni OCPD Mohamed bakuli said 10 other students had been detained by police for interrogations.
He said the cause of the fire could not be immediately established.
