Rowdy youths Saturday temporarily disrupted a funeral attended by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana at Darajani village in Kibwezi East constituency after the former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile severely criticised the county boss.

A faction that was angered by Mr Ndile's comments stormed the podium and a confrontation between two rival groups ensued.

Leaders were forced to cut short their speeches as organisers directed the mourners to the burial site, that was at a different venue.

Pro-Kibwana section of the crowd attempted to stone a chopper that had flown in former Machakos governor's chief of staff Mwengi Mutuse to the event.

However, the pilot reacted swiftly and steered the helicopter from danger.
