An Italian man said to have sexually molested two school children in hotels and villas in Kilifi County is on the run, police have said.

Police said the man, identified as Dominico Dileo alias Chupa Chupa, is suspected to have repeatedly defiled orphaned girls aged 10 and 12 between June 2015 and July 2016.

Malindi detective Paul Wachira said police launched investigations after the girls reported him with the help of their teachers, aunt and county children officers.

Their teachers questioned the children after noticing a change in behaviour and a drop in school performance.

They noticed the change after the two moved in to live with their aunt following the death of their grandmother two weeks ago.

However, the fugitive’s 19 year-old accomplice said to be a cousin of the victims has been arrested and is expected to be arraigned in court Thursday.

The children claimed that the young woman used to visit them at their grandmother’s house.

She then tricked them to visit the Italian in his villa, saying they were going to apply for scholarship, but he defiled them.

Charity workers and children officers rescued the two girls and took them to Pope Francis Children’s Home in Malindi for care and protection.

The girls also narrated how Dileo would compel them to watch phonographic films together with him.

“He then threatened us not to tell anyone and due to fear and shame, I was afraid to say what the man did to me,” said one of the girls.

Police now say they are looking for Dileo who is suspected to be have gone into hiding after the case against him was filed.
