Dozens of Kilifi youths turned up at the Water Services grounds for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment.

Coast region recruiting officer Lieutenant Canon Cheruiyot said the number of interested youths is high.

Lt Cheruiyot did not disclose the number of recruits his team is targeting from the county citing integrity issues.

He said the military is conducting a transparent and corruption free recruitment.

Lt Cheruiyot noted that some people were locked out of the exercise after their identity card names differed with those in their school certificate.

“We have advised the youths to go back and have their documents corrected,” he said.

This year’s exercise in the county is targeting men only, due to the gender balance that is being checked at the national level, Lt Cheruiyot said.
