A Kisii County politician stormed Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) regional offices to demand for an explanation why her name was missing from the register.

Lilian Marwa, ANC party woman representative aspirant, said she was sent away earlier on Tuesday and asked to put her papers in order only for her to return at 6pm for clearance and be told her name could not be located in the register.

"The returning officer Dr Sydney Namlungu told me to return with all the required documents only for him to tell me that my name is not in the list," Ms Marwa said.

She claimed she had earlier seen her name in the IEBC register and wondered how it could mysterious disappear.

"My name was there... I'm suspecting mischief in this and I need explanation from the commission, " she said.

PROTEST

There was drama after Ms Marwa's supporters protested against the electoral commission officials calling them rude.

Police officers ordered them out.

At some point the returning officer attempted to bar reporters from covering the event before he told Ms Marwa to return on Wednesday to enable the commission handle her complaint.

At least four candidates, among them the incumbent Mary Otara were on Tuesday cleared by IEBC to run for the woman rep seat.

More candidates are expected to be cleared Wednesday.
