Fire razes down a makeshift market in Kisii

A dawn fire has burnt a makeshift market in Kisii town.

The fire begun at around 2 in the morning on Saturday - destroying everything.

At the time of going to press, Kisii County Disaster Management Director Julius Tinega said firemen are battling the flames. 

'We got an alert on the fire and we have dispatched our team to the scene,” he said.

Edward Onderi who had a timber yard said he had lost all his investments.

'I recently took a loan to ensure my yard is well stocked,” 'Onderi said.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, Kisii County director for disaster management Julius Tinega.

The shocked businesspeople called upon officials to open investigations to determine the cause of the inferno.
