Police arrested the Nyabururu Girls Secondary School teacher and the female student he was impersonating at the Sameta examinations centre for private students.

According to County Criminal Investigation Officer Justus Burudi, the hawk-eyed invigilators noticed that the man had written a female name on the answer sheet.

The incident happened while candidates where taking the Chemistry paper.

“We suspect that the female student made the arrangement with the teacher so as to secure an excellent result in the subject,” he said.

Mr Burudi said the pair would be arraigned on charges of being involved in exam malpractices.

Last week, 10 teachers and a candidate were charged with committing examination irregularities in Nyamira County.

The teachers, charged with helping the candidate to copy an English Language test, were released on a Sh300,000 bond or Sh100,000 cash bail each.
