Shock as bodaboda rider kills girlfriend and commits suicide

A bodaboda rider on Wednesday afternoon stabbed his girlfriend to death before killing himself with the same knife in their rental single room house at Botore, Kisii County.

Mr Geoffrey Aroni 24, killed his girlfriend Christine Nyananga, who is also his cousin.

A relative, Mr Ben Ogango, said that the two had been warned against the affair.

"The man called me and told me to take care of his daughter.  I am shocked and can't believe he had to do this,” he said.

He said the two, who had sired a daughter, had been having an on and off affair for years. 

COMMOTION

Neighbors said that they heard a commotion in the house and reported to the community policing area chairman, Mr Paul Matoya. 

He said he immediately rushed to the scene only to find the two lifeless bodies lying on the floor. 

"I immediately called the police who rushed to the scene,” he said. 

Kisii County police commissioner Ms Agnes Mudambi said police had begun investigations to establish the motive of the killings. 

She also warned lovers in the county to solve their differences amicably, without fighting.

“We have many ways of solving disputes and fighting is not one of them, if one feels that he has been wronged it is better to report to us,” she said.

The two bodies were taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
