Chief collapses and dies in a bar in Nyahururu

A chief on Saturday evening collapsed and died at a popular bar in Nyahururu Town in Laikipia County.

Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Timon Odingo said that the man identified as Mr Samuel Mangu Kahiru, 50, who was the chief of Madaraka in Ol Joro Orok Constituency, Nyandarua County collapsed as he stood near the entrance of the bar.

“A bar attendant at the bar only identified as Esther called us and informed us that a man who was her daily customer had been standing near the entrance of the bar when he suddenly collapsed.

“We rushed to the scene and found a group of people trying to administer first aid on him in a bid to save his life,” said the OCPD.

A man who was in the bar when the incident happened noted that the administrator who was in the company of an unidentified woman had gone outside to pick something from his vehicle before he suddenly collapsed at the entrance of the bar.

“He had not been pushed or tripped. He just dropped at the entrance,” said the man who sought anonymity.

He added: “It was all a bit chaotic as some people started giving him first aid and some people had crowded around him before police officers arrived and took him to hospital.

“The lady who was together with the man disappeared as soon as police officers arrived at the bar.”
