Lamu police probe killing of KDF soldier

Police have launched investigations into the killing of a Kenya Defence Forces soldier in the Langoni area of Lamu County.

The middle-aged man was found lying unconscious near shops in the area and is alleged to have been beaten by unknown people.

Lamu West OCPD Zachary Kimani said they suspect the deceased was based in the Magogoni Naval Base.

“We received a report from the public that there was a man lying unconscious at Langoni. I sent my officers, who took him to King Fahad County Hospital. He died on arrival at the hospital,” he said.

He said the man had a military identity card.

Mr Bakari Godana, a shopkeeper at Langoni, told Naton.co.ke that he found the officer lying on the ground at 10 am on Sunday and alerted the police.

His body was airlifted to the Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi on Sunday evening.
