Uasin Gishu County Government has developed a policy to guide land transactions and subsequently lifted the ban on the sub-division of land and change of user.

The policy on the management of land and property development has been presented to the assembly and will soon become law, according to Lands executive Robert Ng’isirei.

“The policy will enable us to standardise the use of land and regulate unplanned developments,” Mr Ng’isirei said.

He dismissed claims that the government had suspended the issuance of title deeds and barred residents and non-residents from purchasing land in the county.

“What the county government suspended from December last year was sub-division of land and transactions involving change of user,” Mr Ng’isirei explained.

North Rift Homes Expo official Karen Misoi has accused the government of attempting to control who invests in the county, saying this will be counter-productive.
