The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has been endorsed to vie for the Presidency.

Nominated Senator Fatuma Dhullo, Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo and Nairobi County Assembly Minority Leader Abdi Guyo said the Garissa Township MP should make a stab at presidency in 2032.

The leaders said the vocal legislator, who is a strong defender of the Jubilee administration should take advantage of the huge pastoralist communities numbers and contest for the top seat.

Speaking during a harambee in aid of Al-hidaya mosque in Isiolo Town, the leaders said Mr Duale was the most suitable to take over from President Kenyatta if he is re-elected for a second term and if the DP wins in 2022 and 2027.

This, Mr Doyo said, was because Mr Duale is one of the senior most politicians in Jubilee.

The leaders said Muslims could marshal more than 10 million votes, which could easily propel him to the presidency.

Mr Duale was the chief guest during the funds drive where Muslims were also urged to rally behind Mr Duale.

The endorsement comes hot on the heels of declaration by the pastoralist communities’ leaders that they will form their own party ahead of the 2017 polls.

But Mr Duale has re-affirmed that pastoralists were fully behind URP and TNA and his endorsement could be seen as plans to scuttle formation of new outfit spearheaded by the Pastoralist Leadership Forum.

Ms Dhullo said Mr Duale had fully championed for interests of pastoralists and that he should be elected President “when the time comes.”
