Man kills self ‘for being served little ugali’

A 50-year-old man in Migosi Village, committed suicide on Tuesday night after a quarrel with his wife.

Family members said Mr Samuel Abuya began quarrelling with his wife shortly after he arrived home. Mr David Ouma told the Nation that his father came home drunk and chased them away because “he had been given a small amount of ugali”.

“My mother served the meal which he deemed too little. He started shouting that he would kill himself,” he said.

The family sought refuge at their uncle’s home. The man followed them demanding to know from his brother why he assisted his wife and children every time he was not home.

“My mother asked him why he was making noise yet he did not bring any food. He left saying he would kill himself,” he said.

When they returned to the house at 11pm, they found the father of 10 writhing in pain on the floor with a can of pesticide beside him.
