Military send-off for Mulinge

Former Chief of General Staff Jackson Mulinge, who died last week, will be given a military send-off at his home in Kathiani, Machakos County on Saturday.

Organisers of his funeral on Wednesday said he would be given a 21-gun salute, which is reserved for officers who die in the line of duty.

Former Chiefs of General Staff will be among Gen Mulinge’s pallbearers. The former long-serving top military officer died last week after a long illness.

“We want to give him a respectable send-off. He was a great servant of the nation,” Kitui Senator David Musila, said at the KICC in Nairobi on behalf of the organising committee.

The team released a funeral programme for the former army chief’s burial.

All former Chiefs of General Staff will attend the burial, according to retired army commander John Koech.

Gen Mulinge was the longest serving head of the armed forces.
