Senator John Munyes has asked the government to tarmac roads in Turkana County, especially the Kitale-Lokichoggio Highway.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at St Augustine Cathedral in Lodwar on Sunday, Mr Munyes said he now understands how mwananchi feels when travelling on the poor roads.

He said the experience he went through after he was accidentally shot by his body guard and airlifted to the Lodwar District Hospital, told him of the locals’ suffering.

“After the accident, I was driven really fast to board the plane because I was bleeding badly and I could feel every pothole,”

“I got to understand the troubles my people go through each day of their lives and that’s why I urge the government to repair and tarmac our roads,” the senator said.

Mr Munyes said he was talking with concerned authorities but the tarmacking was yet to begin.

At the same time, he asked the county government to stock the hospitals with enough medicines so that patients are not forced to buy from private chemists. The senator added that the hospitals were in need of a face-lift.

Mr Munyes took the opportunity to thank all those who helped him and prayed for him after he was accidentally shot a few weeks ago.
