A brother and a sister of a man who was shot dead in a hospital ward in Kitui while recuperating from gunshot wounds have gone into hiding, citing threats to their lives.

The two have said they have been receiving threats from strange people believed to have killed their brother, Fredrick Musyimi Ngandi.

The scared siblings said that strangers have been visiting their home over the last few days, following the killing of their brother in a hospital ward by unknown gunmen.

Fredrick was abducted in Majengo, Kitui Town by four men armed with pistols and forced into an unidentified car, according to reports by sources who did not wish to be identified.

The sources further indicated that Mr Ngandi was blindfolded and driven to Ukasi, on the Mwingi–Garissa highway, where the kidnappers are believed to have tortured him before shooting him several times.

LEFT FOR DEAD

They left him by the roadside, believing he was dead, but a Good Samaritan took him to hospital.

But last week Thursday morning, unknown people sneaked into the Mwingi Level Four Hospital and shot him several times, killing him instantly.

The shocking killing happened as his sister watched. She later recounted what she saw.

The sister and her other brother, Nicholas Musyimi, have now gone into hiding following the recent threats on their lives and intimidating calls.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (Ipoa) has called on the Inspector-General of police to take responsibility for the death of Fredrick.

Ipoa Chairman Macharia Njeru questioned why police failed to protect the shooting victim when he was in hospital.

No funeral arrangements are going on, with neighbours fearing to visit the home.
