County Executive Committee members on Thursday signed performance contracts for the next three months, setting out expectations for each of them.

“This is an activity that will help us to keep scores and rate service delivery,” said Governor Samuel ole Tunai during the signing ceremony.

Performance will be measured on a quarterly basis, with a reward and sanctions scheme.

The rewards and sanctions are, however, not specified.

The governor said that adequate funding had been made available to the executives to achieve their targets.

The county government has been criticised for poor service delivery in the past but the governor said it will “cut its suit according to the size of the cloth”.

“I know what the people of Narok want, I know what they feel and I feel it with them. They want better roads, equipped hospitals, better schools, clean water. They want to be happy and we must give them that,” said Mr Tunai.

He warned that officers who fail to meet their target after the three months would be sacked.

“This is a critical time in the life of this administration, and most importantly, a call for renewed commitment on your part as team players,” Mr Tunai said.
